“Gerrit, you can’t seriously think you can flip that tomato with those.”
I (Jan) stood next to him, shaking my head as he confidently tried to turn a cherry tomato using tongs clearly made for steaks. “Trust the pro,” he grinned.
A second later, the tomato rolled off the grill. We laughed – like we always do when we’re barbecuing together. We’re Jan and Gerrit, best friends since school. Back then, we talked more about burgers than math – and honestly, not much has changed. These days, we don’t just stand at the grill – we also stand in our workshop, building the kind of BBQ gear we always wanted ourselves: smart, practical, and fun to use.

What began with the question “Why doesn’t this exist?” quickly turned into an idea – and then into action. We had no business plan, no investors, no office full of suits. Just the two of us, a handful of tools, and a lot of drive to make things better. That’s how HOTTY was born: our answer to cold steaks, stressed-out hosts, and the constant running between grill and table. Simple, honest, and seriously useful.

Today, we still produce Hottys in small batches right here in Germany – with solid materials, thoughtful details, and real craftsmanship. And now? Now, we’re excited to expand and bring our concept to the USA, by relying to a global manufacturing Network! We’re thrilled to introduce HOTTY to the BBQ culture we’ve admired for so long and can’t wait to share our products with even more people around the world.
